Taking on a new venture – getting rid of bad photography
Bad photography is all around us, not saying I am 100% on par with the best out there, however I have enough confidence in myself to know that I can take better photographs in many areas, even with my cell phone camera!
case in point:

I can think of so many better ways to take photos. Just to give you bit of background of this image, I went to craigslist and went to apartments for rent and typed in “luxury”, the 2nd post I saw, posted BY A COMPANY (not just some person), is this picture. and this is the ONLY picture of the unit iteslf, out of 4 photos, 3 are of the amenities of the complex community. I think because of the lack of quality of good unit photos, they are really losing out on many potential clients or renters.
Another case, wish I had the photographs to back it up, about 2 years ago I rented a condo in Upland, California. The place on the ad looked good, that is the description, the price. However the pictures were horrible. We were contemplating not even seeing the place at all, however decided to go check it out anyway. Let me tell you, a picture is worth a thousand words, because as soon as we got into the condo, saw the granite countertops (kitchen and bathrooms), stainless steel appliances, and very nice layout.. we were sold. How come the pictures looked SO horrible then? I mean this was a NICE place.
So I am going on a quest, to find people like mentioned, and tell them “yo, your photos suck!” how are you expecting to rent to someone when your photos don’t even depict what is really there, or depict it very poorly. While staging of items plays a big role as well, I think that even staged places I have seen have bad photography and so it ruins the staging.
I am partnering with a great photographer (as my skills are very limited) named John West, his photography is well known in the small actors arena as one of the leading headshot photographers. While he is building his portfolio if more high-end or A-List actors, I am helpng him get into a new arena. Wedding photography… but there will be a post about that later.
So any thoughts? Know anyone that could use this service… as always, refer someone and I’ll make sure it is worth (monetarily) your time!
